QIS FEST 2025

Theme Expo

To inspire innovation and practical solutions for sustainability by focusing on the themes of Revive, Reuse, and Recycle. Participants are encouraged to showcase projects that address environmental challenges and promote sustainable practices across various domains such as agriculture, waste management, energy, fashion, and more.

Participants must showcase a prototype with a poster explaining its concept and impact.

1. Revive

Description:

Revive focuses on restoring and rejuvenating existing resources, systems, or environments to their original or improved state. This includes projects aimed at ecosystem restoration, heritage conservation, and sustainable regeneration of natural or man-made resources.

Guidelines:

  1. Teams must consist of 2 to 6 members.
  2. Showcase a prototype or product.
  3. Present with a poster explaining the concept.
  4. The project should focus on revitalizing a degraded system or resource, such as polluted water bodies, deforested areas, or deteriorating infrastructure.
  5. The prototype or model should illustrate a clear method for revival and its sustainability benefits.
  6. Use of eco-friendly and restorative practices is mandatory.

Example (Engineering):

Creating a low-cost water filtration system to restore polluted water bodies using natural filtration techniques like bio-sand filters.

2. Reuse

Description:

Reuse emphasizes repurposing materials or products to extend their lifecycle, minimizing waste and reducing the need for new resources. Participants should focus on innovative and creative ways to repurpose items.

Guidelines:

  1. Teams must consist of 2 to 6 members.
  2. Showcase a prototype or product.
  3. Present with a poster explaining the concept.
  4. Projects should highlight methods for repurposing everyday or industrial waste materials into functional or artistic products.
  5. The prototype should demonstrate practicality and appeal for widespread adoption.
  6. Emphasis should be placed on the economic and environmental benefits of reusing materials.

Example (Engineering):

Designing furniture from discarded plastic bottles and other non-biodegradable waste, demonstrating durability and aesthetic value.

3. Recycle

Description:

Recycle focuses on converting waste materials into new, usable products. Projects should demonstrate efficient recycling processes and their potential for environmental and economic impact.

Guidelines:

  1. Teams must consist of 2 to 6 members.
  2. Showcase a prototype or product.
  3. Present with a poster explaining the concept.
  4. The project must showcase an innovative recycling process or product made from recycled materials.
  5. Participants are encouraged to demonstrate the scalability and efficiency of their recycling process.
  6. Metrics or data supporting the project’s impact should be included, if available.

Example (Engineering):

Developing a machine that converts organic waste into biogas and compost, highlighting a closed-loop recycling process for agricultural use.

Evaluation Criteria:

An expert panel will evaluate the exhibits based on:

  • Innovation and creativity.
  • Feasibility and scalability.
  • Impact on sustainability.
  • Presentation quality and clarity.
  • Use of sustainable materials and practices.
